Holly Acres

Holly Acres is the area in Applegate where our home is. Applegate was originally settled by Lisbon Applegate and was called Bear River House. When a post office was established in the 1870s, the settlement was renamed to Applegate. The population sign says we have about 300 people but I did find on the internet where is says we have about 1500 in the unincorporated area. Way back in 70's maybe earlier also, Holly Acres was an area where wayward boys got sent away. They had a school for them and our home was one of the cabins that the boys stayed in. Mike was looking for information on Holly Acres last week and came across this gem of information:

The Bigfoot files:

October 1977

Applegate, CA. The Journal (Auburn, CA) David Seghezzi. Seghezzi, a night supervisor at Holly Acres Boarding School, told police he saw a 6-foot tall, tan colored, upright hairy creature run through the woods near the school garbage cans. The dogs were raising a ruckus and when the witness shined a flashlight on the creature, it's eyes glowed. Deputies found nothing.

How bout that??
