Bonding

My favorite picture from our family Christmas party. My Aunt Yvonne was the only one who was able to get Siena to fall asleep in the noisy house. They bonded over Siena's middle name "Rai". In my Aunt religion Rai is a goddess. :-)

* I took this photo from outside my Aunt Bertha's house. I could not resist!

Facebook status's

Starting in January I will be posting an end of the month post with my facebook status updates. A lot of the things Cole says or does I don't get to blog about so this is my way of remembering them. This one goes back to May since that is as far as fb would let me get.

December

Just booked a spot in the Brianna Graham Photography Workshop in LA!!!! So excited!!!!!

Tile and grout are completed. Time to set up the dining room!!! Yay for finishing projects!

Siena has her first fat lip! Way to go sweetie!!!

Tile saw is going and it's pitch black outside. Remind me again why we have done all our remodeling after having kids?

Quesadilla with cheddar and turkey - Yummy! Getting vomited on after you finish eating - not so yummy. Thanks Siena.

can some one cast a sleepy spell on my kids?

When asked by Grandma if there was a little boy in the back of the truck, Cole responded with "nope, two dogs".

The boys are splitting firewood! The girls are warm by the fire inside. :-)

Cole informed us tonight that he is "Dr. Cole". I wonder if that is his super hero name?

Enjoying my week off from work! Christmas tree is out and all decorations are put away. I feel so less cluttered now. Tomorrow it's a mini demo session in the kitchen / dining room.

Mike and i have a movie date this morning!! Woo hoo!! Thank you Grandma & Grandpa.

is watching Cole try to catch a fly on the just cleaned windows.

Had the most amazing Christmas morning! Thanks to Russ and Nicole for letting me be a part of your son's birth! Jacob is soooo handsome!!!!

is starting to think the rum cake has a little bit more rum than it should for a work day.

Somebody please send sleepy thoughts to my daughter. She is wired!!!!!!

To Fresno and back in one day. So tired and Cole woke up and refuses to go to sleep.

looking into Bowen therapy for Siena. Anyone have any success stories?

When I opened up the door to get Cole out of the carseat he said "see mommy" and pointed to his other hand. He was holding a sleeping Siena's hand. Twice in one week! So cute! He then said "take a picture". Not sure if he was being sarcastic or serious.

eason number 452 as to why I don't bake - apparently whole wheat flour and white flour taste totally different in cookies. yuck!

Merry Christmas to us. The tree dried up and ants invaded the gingerbread house and tree.

Siena's head tilt is back. :-( So glad the scan is set up!

"I need chocolate. I need 1 chocolate. I eat it with mouth. Chocolate go down into tummy." - bargining by Cole before bed time.

i colored my hair today for the first time in 6 years!

please go away snow. I don't like your evil side (ice). Every pathway to our front door is a sheet of 1 inch think ice. And the house feels like the walls are made of snow

Did I mention I love Glee?

yoga pants used and thermals, check, scrub pants, check, 2 tank tops, 1 long sleeve, 1 scrub top, 1 sweatshirt, check, check , check, check and to top it off a beanie and snow boots. I am ready to go to work!

The snow was fun and beautiful yesterday and today it is cold and messy. I can't wait for it to go away. I almost fell on my butt four different times!

hings I have heard Cole say multiple times in the past half hour - "Cole need chocolate" "Cole need to go poo poo" - still hasn't "Is this for Siena's butt?"

6-8 inches of snow already!!!! Do I have to go to work?

36 outside - 87 inside - I think Mike would rather be outside. Cole is in his swim trunks.

my new imac screen is killing my eyes! until I can get an anti glare screen film I will wear sunglasses. And yes that is Siena nursing and trying to grab the glasses off my face.

Cole is watching The Sandlot. When the fence fell on the dog Cole said "Holy crap, the fence fell on the doggie". "Is the doggie ok?"

Mike is trying to get Cole to say gorgonzola gnocchi. Lets just say it sounds nothing like that.

Cole has been in big boy underware all day and has only had one accident that was first thing this morning. Is it possible for a kid to potty train themselves? He made the effort all on his own to do this!!!

conversation with Cole: c- is this for my butt? (holding up the diaper rash cream) me - no you do not have diaper rash c- is this for Siena's butt? me - yes, she has diaper rash c- oh...is this for my butt? me - no you don't have diaper rash c- dong gone it

Cole is walking around saying "dong gone it" (Dog gone it) every time he drops something.

i love toddler talk - making cole a piece of bread with pesto and turkey. Cole says "Cole need a lid" Translation - Please put another piece of bread on the top.

feels like she is going to vomit. Not a good day to be sick. gotta leave the house by 7:30 to get Cole to day care and Siena to physical therapy by 8am. Then drive Siena back to day care and I Have to be to work asap after the physical therapy and then off work at noonish - 1pm and go get the kids at day care and then get them home for a nap, finish editing a senior session, and then back to work at 5pm. Any one wanna trade me so I can nap all day??

November

so excited my sister lives in Reno now!!! Finally close to home! Now if I can just convince her to babysit for me.

leftover turkey, stove popped popcorn and an ice cold dr. pepper. I love it when I don't have to cook for anyone but myself!

I never knew a dog (Onyx) could get so irked that that I fed the cats her dog food. She wont stop staring at them and she is whining at me.

ok siena, this is just getting out of hand now.

I think Siena has officially set the record for how many times a baby can poop and vomit in one day. 6 poops and at least 15 vomits. The night isn't over yet.

nothing like random gun shots to make you feel comfortable when your home alone for the weekend.

Thank you to everyone for your support. My grandpa will be greatly missed.

Mike and Cole are off to the cabin leaving Siena and I all by our lonesome. I see lots of warm fires, ice cream for every meal and no showers in my future Oh and mix in A LOT of photo editing

nothing like day after thanksgiving vomit to start the day off right! Poor Siena!

saying goodbye and knowing it's the last time you will ever see them is one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do.

Should I be worried that Cole is teaching his stuffed animals how to pee in my cup of water?

i just let Siena cry it out in her crib. 7 minutes and she's asleep. best part? she didn't wake Cole up in the process!!!

Me - Cole what color is your shirt? Cole - John Deere

I had a 2 1/2 hour car ride home all by myself which means my choice of music and instead of taking advantage of that I chose nothing. Silence is priceless.

Looking forward to our New moon date in Santa Rosa. See you soon ladies

Cole ate an entire In and out hamburger.

Listening to Siena cry it out :-(

if anyone is interested in spending their afternoon at the emergency room I can loan you Cole. I am sure there are plenty of things he could do today to warrent a second trip back.

something is seriously wrong with me. I can't stand the site of snakes, lizards, or worms but i have no problem picking up the dead cat I found by my garage.

should i be pissed that Cole peed in my new "ugg type boot" or be excited that he has good aim and didn't hit the floor?

my dreams are finally coming true. Tomorrow a dumpster arrives at my house. Good bye crap!

the new kitchen table has it's first scratch.....i have tears in my eyes. I guess it was bound to happen.

you know how bad a bottle of formula smells after sitting out for a few hours. Now guess how bad the bottles smells after finding it a week later with the formula still in it. My nose is burning and I smell it every where I go.

if you could see Cole right now you would be looking at a kid with a head light on his head, a blue thermal shirt, no pants or diaper, one orange sock, one grey sock, a cow print slap bracelet from the 80's on his wrist and a dragging a scarf around.

our cat Bebe is home after being at the hospital for over a month! Welcome home flea bag. :-)

cole has a fever - fitting right?

World Market - Here we come. Hide all your breakable items, Cole is ready for some fun.

is off to take family pictures with Great Grandpa and then to buy a new kitchen table!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!

spending all morning baby proofing the house. Siena is on the move and getting into EVERYTHING!!!!!!

it's 87 degrees in the house. sometimes our wood stove is too efficient.

All I am hearing right now is Cole - "Cole be naked boy" "no dada, Cole be naked boy"

Cole just figured out how to ride his tricycle. Now he is doing laps around the deck and calling for Siena every time he comes by the patio door so she can see him. So cute!!!

This morning Cole told me that Onyx had an owie (she was coming with me to work). I asked him how she got the owie and he said "dead camel chase Oni into tree, Oni crash" This kid has seen one to many dead deer on the freeway this weekend. Then after I got off work and picked the kids up Cole asked where Onyx was. I told him she was in the back of the car. He said "Oni have owie?" I said no her owie is all gone. He said "Cole gave Oni owie, Cole crash in Oni, Oni go "rarrrr" So the truth comes out.....

October

why do both my kids vomit on their first halloweens. Siena is on vomit number 6 for the day.

is listening to Cole boss the dog around - he puts onyx in a time out

is cracking up listening to Cole call Mike "mike" "big camel outside mike" "oni chase the camel Mike"

it's amazing how quickly a boob can quiet a baby and put them to sleep.

Siena still has fluid behind her ear but the redness is gone. Doc said hives may be due to a possible amoxicillin allergy. He said give her the dose tonight and see if she gets hives. Yup! With in 2 minutes she started getting hives. poor girl!

really really over this whole sick kid thing. Dr's apt. number 4 in a week tonight. Siena ear is really bothering her and she woke up from her nap with hives on the right side of her face and all around her bad ear. Anything else wanna join the party?

s so excited the halloween photo shoot is coming together!! I am booked up for the morning but I have some afternoon slots open. Email if interested!

Today is the first day in 6 days that Siena did NOT have a fever over night. Maybe the swine is deciding to leave?????

Cole is convinced that a bee (fly) scratched his face

and Siena are watching basketball in HD on our new LED TV. Amazing!!! Better than LCD and Plasma!! Mike and Cole are grocery shopping. Seems like it should be the other way around...

Cole just drew with a pink high lighter on my new pottery barn rug. What is it with that child and drawing my my pottery barn furniture?

I walked into the bathroom to find the dog and Cole drinking out of the water bowls.

vomiting baby with 104 degree fever - enough said

Cole just informed me that a bug went in his mouth and that is what woke him up from his nap. Funny thing is, he never actually fell asleep. Maybe the bug gave him the bloody nose.

51 degrees outside - 85 degrees inside. I love our wood stove!

has to be at work in 5 1/2 hours and i'm up with a baby who has a temp of 103. fun times.

is watching Siena try to eat the dogs tail.

cole sounds like an old man who smoked to much. That cough can't be good!

s excited for family pictures today! Keri, fair warning, Cole hasn't gotten any better in the last 4 months. :-)

Siena just crawled! I am so not ready for this!

why is it the day before family photos both my kids make their faces bleed?

Cole informed me that a lizard took off his diaper.

This applies to parents only: COLE ASKED TO GO POOP ON THE POTTY AND ACTUALLY DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so nice to have power again after 24 hours

Nothing starts the day off better when you intentionally got up at 5:30 am so you could get to work on time (8am) and at 7:35 the toddler takes a giant dump and while you are trying to wipe his butt he rolls and butt stamps poop on your bed. Then while washing the diaper (cloth) he gets ahold of your deodorant and rubs it all over his face. I give up on trying to get to work on time.

bath time just got 5 million times more difficult. Siena suddenly decided to pull her self up the side of the tub.

Mike and Cole are getting firewood split and stacked for the storm a that's on its way

if Cole is left alone naked he will find a way to pee in something besides the toilet. The latest and greatest.....a soup ladle.

Siena just went from sitting to all fours and is rocking back and forth. Please don't let her crawl for awhile!!!

Cole just sprayed the dog in the face with olive oil. Some one please take him.

is going insane. Cole will not nap because of the "bees". The flies hatched and few made it into the house and all he is doing is watching for them to fly over his head and then he runs out of his room screaming "mama the bees!!!"

didn't think I could get any more tired than I was. I was wrong.

is going to bed before 10 pm! This hasn't happened in months!

one toddler asleep on a bed of alligators and trying to sing the sick one to sleep.

Cole just informed me that he is "baby Cole" today.

September

in a matter of 5 minutes, Siena managed to poop in 3 diapers, on 2 blankets, and all the way up to her armpits in a onesie.

On Sunday 100 degrees - today high of 66 with chance of rain. Now that's a change in the weather!

updating my lens wish list on B&H. Anyone wanna give me $4000? :-)

ate one too many jalapenos today.

Siena is chasing Onyx in the walker.

thank you Michael Scott. My son will not stop saying poopball.

my mind has turned to jello. I am only half way through my month of split shifts and I can't think anymore. My day starts at 6 am (or earlier depending on Siena) and I don't shut down till 11pm or later. I am beat!

doesn't know if I can handle the smell of orange juice anymore after being at work today - let's just say that I experience some things that would make most people vomit or pass out. They only way I can describe the smells coming out of a bloated dogs stomach is that of rotten juice that has sat in a hot car for 2 days. and I got the wonderful "juice" on my hands.

the dr. tried to get me to have Cole pee in a cup! Boy was that a funny experience. Cole " no mama, no pee cup" Me "not even for a milkshake?" Cole "no mama. Cole no pee cup"

just found the hidden speckled jelly beans that I made disappear when I was losing my baby weight! Sugar high here I come!

editing pictures, blog updating, editing more pictures, charts - way to many charts, washing diapers, Siena gets shots, what a way to start a 4 day weekend.

the latest item to die in the Fredy household is the video camera. That should be it right? Things come in 3 - washing machine, tv, video camera...

wants to know who installed the "wake up at 10:30 pm every night alarm" in Siena.

August

is hoping to survive my splits shifts this week. I hope Mike survives the kids for one extra night this week. Although I bet this will make for some pretty funny "Cole did what?" stories. Keep fingers crossed that this fire gets under control today. It's very scary when it's only a 8 minute drive from your house.

is amazed at how quickly Siena falls asleep when you sing her the mini sirloin burger song.

s considering giving Siena her first rice cereal to night. I am so sad about this next step.

Cole just walked into the room with a popcicle and said "Got one!" I thought i had the freezer locked. it's possible he may have figured out another child proof lock.

Anybody want a cat? Stupid fuzz ball just brought a snake in the house. If you think I over react with a lizard you should have seen me with the snake.

My new camera is here!!!!!!!!!!! Now to wait patiently until the battery charges. The fish eye lens arrives on wednesday!

my third child arrives by ups tomorrow. You can bet I will be waiting on pins and needles until I see that brown truck drive up my road.

mystery solved! a camel is a deer. Cole pointed out the deer last week and said "A camoo"

according to Cole, Siena is a meatball.

siena is wearing her first pair of baby legs

Cole said his first sentence last night! "mama, big camel go, on-ah chase" Apparently the dog was chasing a big camel.

if you walk into your toddlers room and find them sleeping naked in their sisters crib with a poppy diaper on the floor and you also discover while cleaning up the poop up around the room that there are little lego men living inside the poop, is it fair to assume that is ate irt or that is squished it in to the poop? - Also, he was so kind to have wiped his butt for me because when I put him in the tub his butt was squeeky clean. I discovered he used his sisters clothes as butt wipes. Really toddlers are just so much fun, I can't stand it.

July

Cole is holding a picture of a kangaroo and yelling "camel go" while jumping and pointing to the sky. Any suggestions on what he saw when he was on the deck?

mama a bee. mama a bee. while i am killing them Cole says - Bee gone! Bee gone! Cole, did mama kill the bees. YUP! bye bye bee.

In his first day of swim lessons, Cole mastered holding on to my neck for dear life and screaming no mom mom. Maybe tomorrow we can work on bubbles.

Have i mentioned how much I HATE disposable diapers? No good, worthless pieces of non biodegradable crap.

is cleaning up dog vomit and found half a base ball in it. Nice Onyx, real nice.

how is it that I go in to Target for a bathing suit and I leave $75 later with no bathing suit.

when it looks like it is snowing in July it's not snow, it's ash. Gotta love fire season!

How do you get a nose to stop bleeding when the kid wont keep his finger out of it?

poor Mike. Cole did a number on him while I was at work tonight. He took off his poopy diaper outside and butt stamped poop in various locations around the deck. He also decided to decorate the dog with his dinner. Onyx had edamame hummus all down her

Let this be a lesson to everyone that does NOT own a labrador. DO NOT ask the owners if their dog likes the water and then let the dog jump in the lake, UNLESS you are prepared with 2 boats, 1 kayak, and a swimmer, and 30 minutes to spare to get her out.

Cole just handed me his poopy diaper. Nothing like the smell of fresh poop in the morning.

june

never thought of work as a place of peace and tranquility...until I had Cole. 4:30 can't get here fast enough!!!

can't even go to the bathroom with out Cole cleaning the fridge out of all apricots and peaches and throwing them around the living room. he thinks they are balls. yummy balls.

there's nothing like being surprised by a little naked boy who wasn't naked when he fell asleep.

is watching Onyx's face for more swelling. Poor girl was stung in the face at least 4 times by a yellow jacket.

I've spent the last 10 minutes looking for a chip bag clip that I just now noticed Cole clipped it to my hood of my sweatshirt that am wearing.

ok, i seriously need to lock Cole in a padded room. exactly 24 hours after the tongue incident he just sliced his head on barbed wire. Of to the doc we go!

my son just defiantly soaked me with the hose.

wants to know why a 2 year old would suddenly starting spitting his drink every where he goes

is questioning herself on why she thought it was a good idea to buy property in the mountains.....a coyote the size of Onyx was about 50 feet from our front door.

no mom mom, go mom mom (door slams)

That was some storm last night. 2-3" hail storm was insane.

may

I walked into the room to find Cole taking a picture of Siena with his toy camera. Like mother like son.

loves it when the thunder storms roll in...

Mike thinks I need to learn self control when it comes to ice cream.

got hit with anal glands at work tonight. Remind me again why I work with animals????

is trying to figure out why there is a helicopter circling above the house.

Boy's are gone! It's just Siena and I for the weekend! Woo Hoo. Oh wait, the lizard is still here too.

would rather be buying an upgraded camera than a new washing machine. Stupid washing machine.

All on her own

I guess she is ready to eat at the table.

I don't need a nap!

Sure you don't, buddy. You're not tired at all.

Why do they always empty out the drawers?

Losing sight

Well it's official. I need glasses to see my computer and to read. I don't think they are helping as much as I thought they would. Turns out the brightness on my computer was way to high and my large pupils were pulling in way too much light. Most likely the cause of my headaches is light related. But I am far sited with a very mild astigmatism. I still have 20/20 vision though. I am hoping with the computer screen discovery I can get this all under control. It is nice however to be able to look at the computer again with out getting an instant eye strain headache with in 2 minutes. I have soooooo many photos to catch up on!

Major blog catch up

Somethings I care about and others I could care less about. One thing that bugs me to no end is having a blog post, post when it has passed the month it occurred in. I know that sounds weird to most but I can't handle it. It especially makes me freak out when the thought of any of my december pictures making it into the January 2010 part of the blog. So as you can see there are a ton of posts that have been waiting to be posted (I needed to get the photos ready). So between now, what I have posted since Monday and what will post tomorrow, will be a lot, but it sure makes me fell sooooo much better. I will be totally caught up with my photos, others photos, and this blog by the end of tomorrow. I want to start 2010 off right. A list of "goals" to come New Years day, but one is to be more organized. I am what some would call an "organized mess". I look like I have no clue what is going on (examples include my wallet, my car, my desk at work and at home, and my home in general) but I know where EVERYTHING is. Don't touch any of it!

Messy

When you give a baby ones of these filled with banana

They will for sure end up in here. They are WAY to messy to just be wiped down.

Siena's newest game

Can you see how Cole's doesn't even care that she is doing that? However is she went near his clementines that's a whole other story!

MRI Results and the next step

So on Monday I called to get the results of Siena's MRI. The lady that answered the phone told me it would take 1 1/2 to 2 weeks to get the results read. I told her in so many words that I was not waiting 2 weeks to find out if my daughter had a brain tumor. I got called back with in 30 minutes. HER MRI WAS 100% NORMAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So that's the good news! But we still don't have any concrete evidence of why she gets the head tilt. Her last physical therapy appointment was this morning. Once she starts walking or if I think she is not progressing in the right direction with motor skills, we can take her back in for a check up.

So the conclusion we all came to was that her head tilt is growth spurt related and when she has a growth spurt it takes the muscles in the left side of her neck about 1 1/2 weeks to stretch out. So we will see if this pattern continues on. If and when the tilt comes back again we will just work on her stretches.

Cole and his monies

We made Cole a piggy bank out of an old Ovaltine tin. He has $3.10 in it. He is so proud of his "monies". He protects them from Siena. In the top photo he was pulling the dollars in and out of the can and yelling "tada!" to Siena.

Sweet Clementines

Song sung to the tune of Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond.

They're not from a can or from the frozen section
You'll find them in produce, you can go wrong
They grow from the trees
The tress get there sun in the summer
That's when they really do grow strong

Cans…they're not from cans
Tasty fruit
Good for me and good for you!

Sweet clementines
Oranges never taste this good
I really like to eat 3 or 4, I could

They look like an orange, but smaller and ten times better
They really are so good for you
I can't get enough of these tasty little fruits now
Much better than apples or honeydew

Cans…they're not from cans
Tasty fruit
Good for me and good for you!

Everybody!

Sweet clementines
Oranges never taste this good (so good, so good)
I really like to eat 3 or 4, I could with you

(There kind of hard to peel, but my mom helps me
They kind of smell funny on my fingers too
There delicious in my mouth
Bursting with flavor, yes!, Yummy!)

Sweet clementines
Oranges never taste this good (so good, so good)
I really like to eat 3 or 4, I could

Sweet clementines
Oranges never taste this good (so good, so good)
I really like to eat 3 or 4, I could

Christmas 2009

Our Christmas started soon after Siena's MRI. We spent Christmas eve at my parents house with mom and dad, Andrea, Lennis, Aunt Cathy and Alix. We made cookies and just hung out and messed around before dinner was ready. Andrea and Alix fought over a jacket that used to be our grandmothers. It was first offered to me and the pack rat inside me told me to take it but the practical side of me said "where do you have room to hang another jacket???" So I declined and my sister said yes. The comedy that came after that was priceless. You can see Alix in the above photos pouting about the jacket that got away.

After the jacket drama we sat down for dinner, but first toasting to Grandpa Tom whose is greatly missed and his 91st birthday would have been celebrated on the 26th. Then we feasted on dungeness crab, spinach lasagna, salad, cheese fondue, and chibatta bread. For dessert we had chocolate peppermint sandwiches cookies.

Opening presents was a blast. Cole played Santa and handed out all the presents. His first present was the "Super hero in a box" costume. He wore it the rest of the night. It was so funny to see him flying around picking out presents. Siena had a blast destroying all the packages and eating the paper, bows and tags.

We didn't get out of there until midnight and with our 45 minute drive home we were all exhausted. I decided to sleep in Christmas morning. Mike and Cole got up early and Mike set up Cole new train set. He was in pig heaven. At 8:20 the phone rang and I could tell by Mike's voice exactly who was on the phone. Nicole was in labor! I jumped out of bed and got dressed super fast and jumped in the car flew down to Roseville to meet them at Kaiser. You can see the photos from the delivery a few posts down.

I got home around 2pm and it was just in time to head over to Mike's parents house for Christmas Day dinner. My parents came over for dinner, along with Russell, Ron and Belle. It was another yummy meal consisting of a real Honey Baked Ham, rosemary rolls, shrimp salad, carrots, cranberries and oranges (so yummy!), and some other things I can't remember. For dessert we had apple pie and lemon meringue pie.

We opened present again that evening and after we went home, Cole and Siena opened up the rest of their presents from us as well as their stockings. It was a crazy Christmas with the birth and all but a ton of fun and looking forward to it again next year. It was so enjoyable to see Cole getting so excited over every present and helping everyone open their own presents. He had to be a part of it all!

Gifts that Cole received:
Thomas the Train complete set to go with what he already had
a step stool
a super hero costume
a guitar
a john deere farm play barn
tons of lightening McQueen stuffing including a blanket, cars, slippers and a "piston cup" cup
a soccer ball
a tonka Ford truck that makes noise
hot wheels
a ton of Dinosaurs

Gifts that Siena received:
a tinkerbell blanket
blocks
ring stacker
a "tricycle" type ride
a "piggy" bank with big fake coins
a leap frog barn that you match animals head and rears together

more stuff I can't even think of as well for both of them. They made out like bandits.

My super hero

I feel safer already.

Siena's MRI

This was a pretty crazy busy month leading up to Christmas. We had so much going on that Christmas eve snuck up on us. With Siena's MRI being Christmas eve that kind of took away from slowly moving into Christmas mode.

We got to Sutter Memorial in Sacramento at 7:45 to check in for the MRI. Siena was a total trooper and wasn't even complaining about not being able to eat or drink. As I was filling out the paperwork I noticed that they had Siena down for a "MRI of the brain with anesthesia". No mention of the neck. I went up to the front desk and asked the receptionist if her neck was also going to be scanned. She said no, the order was just for her brain. I said to her that the main reason we were here was for her neck and the brain was an additional thing to look at. I told her it was my understanding that her neck was being scanned to look for congenitial muscle shortening. She said she would call the neurologist office and double check. After a few minutes she called me back up and said the office is closed and she could not get ahold of any one. I told her she'd better try again because there was no way I was putting my daughter under anesthesia twice or paying twice for an MRI! She ended up calling the neurologist at home and found out that I WAS CORRECT!!!! He messed up and didn't put it on the order. Let this be a lesson to every one who has to deal with doctors and hospitals. You have to be your own advoate to get things done correctly!!!

So after things were straightened out the nurse came out and put some numbing gel on Siena's wrists so when they put the IV in she would not feel it as much. When it was Siena's turn we went into the room where she was going to be put under. She was very uneasy when she was on the table. She knew something was up. She stared crying when they put in her IV. Then she got really pissed. But after 5 seconds she was out cold. It totally caught me off guard. My eyes welled up with tears but I held them back. I flashed back to my daily job and they way I was comforting Siena and telling her everything would be ok was exactly how people do when we put their animals to sleep. I was in shock when I realized what I was doing and then seeing the look on her face scared me. I hope we don't have to do that again anytime soon!

While Siena had her scan, which took 1 1/2 hours, Mike and I sat in the waiting room and addressed our holiday cards. Better late than never right? It was actually nice because it kept our minds off of waiting for her to be finished.

When they brought us in to see Siena, she was lying on the table with the IV in her hand and oxygen tubes in her nose. When I started talking to her she began moving and rubbing at the tubes. They took off the oxygen tubes and the IV and told us to have a seat and try to get her to wake up. Well that was easier said than done. After about 30 minutes we finally resorted to taking off her clothes and rubbing her with wet baby wipes. She woke up happy as a clam like nothing ever happened. I was so relieved to have my little girl back. :-)

Do you pee sitting down or standing up?

That was the question Cole was asked by his Auntie Alix on Christmas Eve when she took him to the bathroom. He said "I pee standing up" and he did with out peeing on the floor.

Cole has never peed standing up at the toilet. What a little fibber. But since then he will only pee standing up. Figures since I just bought him a new Lightening McQueen toilet seat last weekend so he would stop peeing under his other seat.

How I spent Christmas morning

Thanks goodness my kids are young and too little to totally understand what Christmas morning is supposed to be like because at 8:30 this morning I got the phone call we had been waiting for all week. Nicole was in labor and on her way to the hospital!!! I jumped out of bed, got dressed real fast and out the door I went. I knew there would not be much time once we got there.

At 9:15 she was 5cm and 100% effaced. At 10:30am they started putting in the epidural. At 10:50 it was finally in and at 11am the doctor came into introduce herself and ask when she was last checked to see how far she was. We said 2 hours ago and she said "ok, I will be back in a few minutes to check you again". About 10 minutes after the doc left, Nicole says to the nurse "I feel like I need to push" The nurse says "ok, I will check you but it would be amazing if you were ready" Sure enough Nicole was +2 and ready to go. The nurse called the doc and set everything up. At 11:25 am she started pushing and at 11:38am Jacob Edward was born!

I have never been present for a natural birth. I have had to c-sections with no labor what so ever, so this was a really amazing experience for me! I was so honored to be there and Nicole makes having babies look so easy. I am truly amazed. She did not scream once, no cussing, and she only threatened to kick us out of the room one time! :-) I am serious when I say that she made no noise. Had some one accidentally opened up the door to her room they would not have even known a baby was being born!

Thank you so much Nicole and Russ for letting me photograph this very special day for you.

Dear Santa

Cole's letter to Santa:

I want a Christmas elf, that camel over there, bagels, one deer, one BIG deer, and one little deer.

Siena's letter to Santa according to Cole:

Siena wants suckers.

Let the nerves set in

Siena has her MRI in 3 hours, which means that in 2 3/4 hours she gets knocked out. I have a headache which I think it related to me stressing last night while trying to sleep. We should have results today if I can convince the office to get some one to read it, and if they are open it is very possible.

Please keep her in your thoughts this morning.

Paparazzi

A couple of weekends ago Mike was going through a box of his old Yosemite gear and he came across an old 35mm camera that still had working batteries but no film. Cole immediately took possession of it and has been in our face ever sense.

He knows how to advance it forward each time so he can take a picture and make it flash. If he doesn't wind it enough he thinks the batteries have gone dead and he says "Cole fix dead battery" and takes them out and puts them back in.
He takes pictures of EVERYTHING.

Cole's head is deadly

Yesterday at our annual Mesple family Christmas party (2008) my mom bent down to pick up Siena and Cole was underneath as well. Cole stood up very fast and his pumpkin sized head connected with my mother face. It instantly put her to tears and you can see it resulted in a very swollen soon to be very black eye, you can see the blue skin near the lower part of the eye lid. She is lucky he didn't hit her nose or mouth. At the impact he had she would have lost a tooth or broken a nose. Fair warning to anyone around my son - Always know where his head is.

*update* - here is her eye today!
