Living in the mountains has it's downside

I think it's safe to say that today marks the last day that Cole will ever poke at a lizard with his fingers.

I had no clue that lizards had teeth. Apparently Cole screamed like he was being killed. When I got home I was told to ask Cole how he got his owie. When he told me a lizard did it I started laughing because I thought he was lying.

In case you can't understand him or me (haha) - He said "Cole got bit by alligator lizard. Cole poke it and alligator lizard bite my finger. Uncle Bub got bit on his ear and he went ahhhhhhhh!"

I love 3 year old stories. BTW they are both true.

This is a big lizard. Probably 8 inches long and 3/4 of an inch wide. I have a feeling it is the same lizard he had in a bucket for two days a few weeks back. REVENGE.

Siena and popcorn

Popcorn is one of my all time favorite foods. This was Siena's first day eating it, however when I took the video it was her 5th time back to the bowl. She is obsessed with it. I had to hide the rest of it. Also it is taking me so long to give it to her because I was biting off the sharp kernel parts. It's long but she does some "talking" at the end of the video.

Thank you so much for the awesome books and calendars!!!! As you can tell Cole loves them he just wasn't being to cooperative for the video. This was much better than last weeks attempt!

Cole falls asleep while eating again

So I hope you all don't think we eat dinner so late that Cole can't stay awake. This video was at 7 o'clock at night. He had been sick all morning and didn't take an afternoon nap and he was busy playing with grandma and grandpa all afternoon. So needless to say he was very tired and very hungry.

Siena's mobility milestones!

Siena has learned to climb on the couch! I am surprised that she is able to since her little legs are so short. She is on 27 1/2 inches tall after all. But when faced with the NEED for the remote and or telephone she gives it her all. I looked back to see when Cole was able to get on the couch and it was the same age. The only difference is that he was walking and she is just taking steps occasionally. She likes to sit on the stairs in the office and then stand up and then sit back down. If I am near her then she tries to walk to me.

Here she is taking her first steps last week. Cole is the master video taper. How can you not love his laugh!

Feeding the baby

Is one of the most difficult things I have to do.

10 months

Siena is 10 months!!! She weighs 17 # 12 oz and just about 27 inches. She is cruising along the coffee table and couch to get to toys or the dog! She still has two teeth but I swear she is teething with her snotty nose and fussy attitude the past few days. She belly laughs like crazy (in video below) and plays peek-a-boo. Her appetite has picked up more with the baby food. I gave her whole wheat pasta the other day and she munched on that for awhile. She still does not really like the combination foods that involve meats or peas so I have to hide them under sweet potatoes and fruit. She is so busy now that she wont even nurse unless she is SUPER tired. I think nursing might be coming to an end very soon. We will see. Siena has stood on her own for about 2 seconds on a few occasions and will walk holding on to your hands. She likes to push the walker while trying to chase Cole. She loves any toy that belongs to Cole and she likes to carry things around in her mouth while crawling. She still does not sleep through the night and is almost always in our bed. She is the best heater around! On good days she takes two naps with the one in the morning being any where from 20 minutes to an hour and then an afternoon nap which is about 2-3 hours. On bad days when Cole doesn't let her sleep she is cranky little girl.

And because Cole and Siena came home from the hospital at the same weight I like to check back and see how they match up. At 10 months Cole was 20# 10oz and 29 1/2 inches.

Wait for it....

He does this EVERY TIME the logo appears on screen.  Such a goof ball.  The movie is Toy Story 2.

Life will never be the same

I came across this video on a girls' blog that I frequently read and it really stuck a cord with me. Maybe it's because I am a parent and also pregnant but I don't think it would have affected me as much as it did had I never experienced motherhood and the privilege it is to be able to bring a child into this world. An innocent child that change the way you think, see the world and love.

I have always known I am lucky to be as "fertile" as I am. We had no trouble getting pregnant with Cole and the same with this pregnancy. I say lets have baby and by the next month I am pregnant. We are very fortunate. After watching this video the way I look at my husband and children will never be the same. I can't imagine not having them in my life.

I can't not imagine not being able to see Cole spin in circles as you try to put his zip up sweatshirt on or bark like a dog when he hears barking from a distance. The look on his face after he bit in to a bag of coffee grounds in the back of the Target shopping cart was priceless. The very carefully thought out backwards walking he does to annoy the dog cracks us up. Today I received the biggest hug from him I have ever experienced. It was followed by about 20 kisses, 20 wet, snot nosed kisses that I would not interrupt for anything. I love that he calls me "dad" not "mom" to get my attention. I love that he says "yes" in his own excited way... Oh ya ya ya ya. The hearing that this kid has is impeccable, he can hear a train about a mile away and he gets so excited and acts so shocked when he hears it. I love watching from the couch, his excited little dance that he does when Mike gets home from work. I don't receive the same type of greeting that Mike gets but Mike doesn't get to experience it from my point of view either.

Cole has brought so much happiness to our life and he is a joy to be around even when he is head butting and screaming bloody murder in the store. I will take the head butting over not having him as a part of my life. He is a true blessing to Mike and I and we are so excited for the next arrival. We can only speculate what the next one will be like.

So I know this is a long one but it really shows the good, the bad, and the ugly of Cole's favorite game, train.  As I type this he is attempting a round of train with the cat, along with trying to step on her and squish her.  Let's just say Minkie is not so approving of the game like Onyx is.  Onyx deserves a medal for her tolerance during this game.  

The belly button part comes in the middle after his melt down when Onyx goes out side.  He shows it to the camera.
