Siena's first bath

Siena got her first official bath tonight.  Yes I know she is almost a month old, but I refuse to put them in a bath until that cord is gone. The only thing worse than the gross cord is an infected cord.  She was such a trooper.  I fully expected her to let out even a small cry when she hit the water but she said nothing.  No peeps, squeaks, or cries.  Cole was super interested in why she was in there and he wasn't.  He went from fully clothed to t-shirt and socks only in a matter of minutes waiting to jump on in the tub.

Festival of Lights Parade

Last night we took Cole to the Light Parade in downtown Auburn.  It is cold, crowded, and dark and I think that was the perfect receipe for Cole.  I really think he thought it was Halloween again.  We were stationed near the beginning of the parade that way we could make a quick getaway.  Cole shouted all the way down the hill as we approached the parade.  He was waving to everything in site.  He hung out on Mike's shoulders for the better part of an hour bouncing and waving.  Then he got hungry.....and cold because we forget a jacket and a sweatshirt for him.....that was the end of the light parade.  We left about halfway through.  It was good but a 1 1/2 year old can only last so long at something like that.  Too much waiting.

What did you say?

So we were on the couch having cuddle time last night and Cole starts wigging out because he is being restrained by the blanket.  I told him it was bed time and he shook his head - cute little trick he has learned when he doesn't want to do something.  So I asked him if he was hungry and if he wanted a banana.

He replies with an "ooh ya ya ya balana!"

"What did you say Cole?" I asked

"balana"

Ok i guess he wants the banana.  oh excuse me, BALANA.

Turning over a new leaf

Ever since Cole and Dylan have been friends (since 2 weeks of age) when ever they were lying next to each other or now mobile and playing, Cole has always been a little pest to Dylan.  He pushes him over, tries to chew on his head, pokes him until he cries and all around torments him.  Until today....

Cole just got finished telling Dylan "hi"
No pushing or shoving occurred before or after this picture was taken.  They never once fought over the truck!

Not quite sure why the sudden change in Cole but is a good one none the less.  Cole also chose to fall asleep on a dog bed at Dylan's grandmas house today.  A day of firsts.

The first haircut

I have been dreading the FIRST haircut for a while now.  Not for the reason most of you think.  It isn't because I am sad to see his hair get cut for the first time (although a tear almost made it out). I am sick of having his little hairs go up my nose when cuddling.  It is bad enough pregnancy makes me congested for 9 months, I don't need help sneezing from Cole's hair.  But the MAIN reason was because I knew after a drive to the hair place and then forcing Cole to sit on one of our laps while some stranger touched his head, was going to be an embarrassing event.

LUCKILY for us our good neighbor Charlie cuts hair and she offered to give him a hair cut awhile back.  And this weekend we decided it was time to take her up on the offer.

Thank you Charlie!
I know it doesn't look too different than before, only about 1 inch got cut off.  I was not totally ready to chop the curls and go for the faux hawk......yet.

Diaper....less

I find that I learn better when I am naked.

*It finally happened, Cole has learned to take off his diaper.  It happened once on Sunday and we thought it was a fluke, but unfortunately for us it is now a common occurrence.

Why?

The "whys" are begining.

Me: Cole, you need to sit down when you eat.

Cole: Why?

Me: so you don't choke on your cereal bar.

Me: Cole, I have to go to work

Cole: Why?

Me: So I can buy you diapers so you don't poop on the floor.

Creative Thinking

You'd think with this being the 3rd post about that damn music table, I would have gotten rid of it by now.  And yes, he has no pants on.  He likes it that way.

Extreme Concentration

He did this for a 1/2 hour yesterday while waiting in the car.
At least he did not spend the 1/2 hour screaming of boredom.

Where's Waldo?

Seriously.  It's like looking for Waldo in the crowd of people.
Where in the house will I find him next?
(that is the kitchen table, in case you were wondering)

The goat

Each day it is some place higher up than the last time.

**We were lounging on the couch while Cole and Onyx played train (Onyx in the lead with Cole holding on to her tail) We try to discourage train as it usually ends up with the same results as the coffee table (See Below) except maybe with a bloody nose also.  Anyways, Onyx got bored and Cole ran into his room.  A minute or so later I hear him yell "hey" so I get up and go in the room and there he is.  He used the banned music table to get up there.  I have got to take the legs off that table.  He was so proud of himself.  He was laughing to his reflection in the glass door.

That's an interesting way to eat

I let Cole walk around with food.  I know, you are probably wondering why in my right mind would I let a 14 month old walk around with food.  Most of the time he goes right over to his big green chair and sits in it and eats, unless of course Onyx is in the house, then he runs in circles holding his food in the air giggling as Onyx follows, like the shark that she is, closely behind hoping to get "whatever it is" that he has in his hands.  Today was an exception to his "usual doing".  Today he chose to smash his "This apple walks into a bar" (Trader Joe's version of a Nutragrain bar) onto the fireplace surround and then proceed to lick it off.  Why you might ask?  After being a mom of a little boy for a year now, the answer to that is -

Boy's are gross - They eat anything and everything from toilet paper to dog food.  They will eat the food that they handed to the dog and then "took back" and ate it themselves. Their main goal during a bath (if it isn't to poop or pee in the tub) is to eat the Burt's Bees body wash just because it smells good.  I'm not one to hold my son back from exploring, but some of the things he chooses to eat / do are down right gross.  I fear for when he is a teenager.  I can only imagine what he will want to eat / do then.

Todays Events

Today was a big day for my doggie and me.  The day started off with my Grandma Terri, my Great Grandpa Tom, my doggie, and me all playing in the garden.  Grandma threw Onyx her kong and when she came back she was sneezing a lot and hitting her face on the ground.  Grandma Terri took me next door to Grandma Carole and Grandpa Glenn's and drove away with Onyx.

Grandma Terri came back without Onyx!  I was upset but then I taught my self a new trick and I perfected it so I could show Onyx when she got home.

Mommy brought Onyx home with her and Onyx was acting very silly.  My doggie can't walk straight.  She walks as my dad would say "Like a drunken sailor"  She keeps sleeping all day.  Mommy told me she had a fox tail stuck in her nose, but they got it out.  I must have been climbing on the table too much because when I climbed on the couch to sit next to my doggie, I puked.  I think it was cottage cheese.

Here is my impersonation of Onyx

Did I do a good job?

Later, after I spilled all of Onyx's dog food on the floor, I got to run around in a diaper and some sort of warm but too small jacket.  A robe, whatever that is.  At least I did not have to wear pants.  Now if I could only convince them to let me go diaper less....

It was a good day.

Guess who can eat with a spoon!

Somehow I convinced mommy that letting me eat yogurt by myself
was not going to be messy.
