Hoop-a-loop

Cole and Alix hula hooped for awhile during her visit.  Cole loved it and they looked so cute together!

HOT

It is hot here!  It's almost October and it was 108 today.  Holy cow!!!!  Thankfully there was a breeze the past few days which has helped to cut the heat a bit.  The one bummer part about the heat is that the AC at my work broke a few weeks back.  My boss was hoping to get away with not having to buy a new one until next year and boy did this week catch us all off guard.  We had to close last night for evening apts because it would have been way too hot for the animals!

Another slightly annoying thing is that my pay pal account was compromised and some a**hole is NY purchased something from Walmart.  Luckily I have an awesome credit card company (Nordstrom) and Paypal is very on top of these things.  The person has to be pretty into paypal because he 1, figured out my password, and 2, created a unique transaction ID number so I can not dispute it!  Hence I have been on hold FOREVER wait.  What a pain in the butt.

Auntie Alix

This little cutie came by to visit this past weekend.  I had been wanting to get photos of the two of them together for a while and they turned out great!  Such a colorful couple!

Ummm

Siena has started using "ummm" when you ask her a questions.  While looking at a book on the potty I asked her where the apple was and she says "ummmm" and then points to it!  Too cute.

Speaking of potty, this morning was the third in a row that she has pooped on the potty!!!!

And now that Cole has been properly trained to make a pot of coffee, it's Siena's turn to learn!

In-n-out

Cole's favorite snack these days in a package of in-n-out ketchup.  He's a weirdo.

The giant Carebear

Cole takes this guy all over the house. He really wants to claim it as his own but he knows who it belongs to because when I ask him he says "it's Siena Rai's bear"

Fall!

I can't believe Fall is finally here!  It was a crisp 59 degrees in the house this morning so we turned on the heater.  :-)

I had big plans tonight to capture on the camera this "super harvest moon"  Well true to the our style we were late by like 10 minutes and I missed the giant moon.  I guess I will have to wait 20 more years for the full moon to be on the equinox.  Oh well!  I at least got some great shots of the moon and the courthouse!

Piggy Bank

One of their FAVORITE activities is putting money in their piggy banks.  Most of the time they get a bag of change next door at grandma and grandpa's and then they run back over to fill their banks. Cole is always so sweet with Siena and he makes sure to give her money for her's as well because she is always putting her coins in to his pig.

No more gnocchi

Last night Siena ate half a bag of Gorgonzola gnocchi from Trader Joes.  I didn't think much of it because she was seriously shoving her face full of it and I was just so happy she was actually eating food.  Well, I paid for that this morning.  I woke up to Siena having a massive diarrhea blowout and about 10 gnocchi stuck in her hair in random spots all over her head which to me means she vomited them up and them laid in them.  I feel horrible.  I was letting her cry it out last night and I think maybe this might have been the reason why she didn't sleep well.  I'm just glad she didn't aspirate.  Scary!!!!

Cole response to the situation.  While I am on the phone with Mike (who is at work) explaining what I woke up too, "No mommy, that's not gnocchi, it's bullets"   His other response "Mommy come here, there are little gnocchi's sleeping in Siena's crib"

He then proceeds to describe to me in detail about what his poops looks like.

It wasn't even 8am.  This may be a LONG day.

First rain and wedding season is slowing down

We just got back from Santa Cruz for the second time in 3 weeks.  I am exhausted.  I love photographing weddings but I am tired.  I have made changes to my pricing so if I am hired for the day it pays well.  Yesterdays wedding was 13 hours on my old pricing and it was exhausting.  We got up early this morning and were home by 11:30am!  So we can still enjoy the day!  It rained this afternoon and it was amazing.  I get so excited for the start of each new season and I love the start of fall.  There just something about that crisp air and gentle rain that I love.  We are starting early on firewood this year so we don't "almost" run out like last year.  We (and by we I mean Mike) has a lot of firewood to split.  I do help stack it though.

This coming weekend is my last wedding for this year on the books.  This will be 11 total for this year which is up from 2 last year.  I am excited to see where I end up for 2011.  I already have 4 booked and 4 on the hook!  :-)  Who knew raising my prices would generate more business!

My goal is to be totally caught up by Dec 1st.  I am taking the month of December off from photography (unless there is a newborn or last minute wedding) to get caught up on life, blurb books and just enjoy the holidays!  I am looking forward to starting 2011 off on a good clean slate.

Happy 5th Wedding Anniversary to us!

5 years has come and gone so quickly.  I'd post a photo of us together but I don't think I have a recent one and that just proves once again how insanely crazy our life is right now.  But even though it is insane we are loving every minute of it!

Siena 19 months

Little miss 19 months!  Man she is getting old!  Thank goodness she is still the size Cole was at 10 months.  She has these "looks" she gives us on a consistent basis like she is saying to us "really, you expect me to do what?"

She wont let me take her out of her crib. She swats at me and says "unh unh".  If I am cuddling with her on the couch and Mike sits down, she will stand up, grab her blanket and bottle and walk right over to him and sit down and then stare at me.  I feel like I am being giving insight into the teenage years!

She will toss her self down on the ground when she is grumpy to pout for attention.  She loves to follow Cole around and they are really starting to "play" together.  Cole is always trying to get her to say things.  In the car the other day is was asking her to say "table".

She still has dairy issues.  Too much = bad times for Siena.  But at least she can have some in moderation.

She loves Onyx and calls her "Oni" and pretty much calls every dog "Oni".  She is always giving her hugs.

Her attempt at a smile.

Carebear and other random things

We got Siena a giant Carebear that matches her little one.  Of course Cole wants it but he knows it's hers.

The kids helped Mike papermache his halloween costume.

Their new favorite place to play is their closet.  Here Cole informed me that they were sharing gum.

She keeps coloring herself.

How she got her back is beyond me.

Siena has befriended John the same way Cole did.

We have  A LOT of firewood to split.  A LOT.

Dr. Check up

Today we had Cole's 3 year (at 3 1/2) check up and Siena's 18 month check up (at almost 19 months).  It was quite the experience.  The kids started out well with getting their weight's and heights.  Cole is 40 3/4 inches (87%)  tall and 35 pounds (63%).  Siena is 21# 8oz (9%) and 31 1/2 inches (36%) tall.  Both kids physically looked great.  Their development is right on track, they are looking awesome.  The doc got to witness Siena's persistent whining and screaming until she gets picked up and could only tell us that with time it should get better (thanks).

Here's where is turned to hell.  Both kids needed vaccines.  Cole needed a booster, iron check (finger prick) and a TB test.  Siena needed to vaccines.  We decided to have Cole go first.  Holy shit!  He has always been so good so this was quite the shock.  The nurse did the TB test first and had to poke him twice because he bent his arm trying to hit her.  We distracted him enough to get the finger poke.  The vaccines was the last straw for him.  He tried kicking her in the face.  This entire time he was on my lap with me restraining him.  Siena was just watching with a very curious look on her face.

Up next was Siena.  Cole would not get off my lap so we were going to put Siena on the other side of me.  Well Cole knew what was up and he had no intention of letting the nurse any where near Siena.  We had to lie her on the table to get her away from Cole.  He was trying to get the vaccines, block the nurse and kept yelling "Stop!  You might make her cry"  It was heart breaking to watch them be so traumatized but at the same time it almost made me cry to see what lengths Cole go to, to protect his little sister.  Cole was VERY mad at Erin (the nurse).  I think she felt horrible too.

The kids quieted down afterwards and we were late to Cole's gymnastics class but at least he got to run off his sadness with Dylan.

I have to take Cole back on Monday to have his TB test looked at.  We'll see how that goes over.

Boy toys

If your planning on buying Siena a gift for any reason, make sure it is a boy toy.  She won't touch girl toys.

New favorite activity

Although they don't look thrilled here, they love cruising the property in the stroller.

Soccer

This kid is insane with a soccer ball.  I am shocked at his ball handling skills.  He's better at it than I am!!  I can't wait to put him in soccer next summer!
