HFL Company Picnic

Yesterday was the HFL (Mike's work) company picnic. Every year it is held at Pioneer Park in Nevada City. Like usual it was scorching hot and we were all sweating like we lived in the south.

Cole spent most of his time in the river. He made friends and one kid even made him a boat out of a cork, a pine needle and a leaf. Cole had fun floating it. I tried to get a picture but he would not hold still and I only had the point and shoot with me.

Every year Mike wins something in the raffle. I don't have that kind of luck. This year he won the best gift of all.

Cole was super excited about the win. "Oh wow! A baalllll". Now we have to keep Onyx away from it since she is on a ball eating spree. Last night she vomited up half a baseball (in chunks).

Sticky fingers

Cole is a little thief. If you were using something and now it has suddenly disappeared, it's a guarantee Cole had something to do with the disappearance. It would be one thing if he put everything in his pockets or had a little collection spot because then it would be easy to retrieve the missing items. Cole prefers to toss everything off the deck and into the tall grass (ok they are weeds, but I like to call it grass) and then we have to search every where until we either find it or give up until the "grass" dies or the lawn mower hits it.

Gardener for hire

With the economy the way it is these days we have got to find income where ever we can.  Cole is for hire to water your garden, shrubs, plants, lawn, what ever as long as it involves a hose.  He charges 1 tootsie pop per half hour.  If you pay him with a chocolate tootsie pop he may rip out a plant or two.

Let it snow!

It is a beautiful day in Applegate.  It started snowing this morning and hasn't stopped since.  As beautiful as it may be, living in Applegate has it's down side.....CHAIN CONTROL FOR HWY 80 EAST.  This means the freeway gets shut down and Applegate goes from a town of 300 to a thriving metropolis.
