Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!

I'd like to say that Cole was pretending to swim in the ocean but that would be a lie.
He was pitching a fit over having to put on a costume and not getting to eat another orange cupcake.

He perked up when we convinced him there were treats outside.

Visiting with the Payette's before trick or treating in downtown Colfax.

Cole was way more interested in playing with skeletons and graves than he was in collecting candy.  This boy has no fear either.  He loved the scary sounds, the pitch black night, the kids in  costumes, and he really enjoyed crab walking in every cross walk.  He had a bad habit of crab walking when a huge group of people were behind him.
Over all it turned out way better than we had thought since he would have a tantrum every time we tried to get the costume on him.  I am so proud of him for wearing that shark outfit for 3 hours straight.  I think he secretly enjoy all the attention... "Look at that little shark" "Watch out a shark is coming" and my favorite "Is he a dolphin?"

Happy Birthday Onyx!

Three years ago today, our little furry princess was born.

Life's rough when your birthday is on Halloween!

In celebration of Onyx's 3rd birthday we had cupcakes.

Bright orange cupcakes...

My day got quite a bit better

So yesterday I had called Pottery Barn because I had finally found a mirror the right size for our bathroom at a reasonable price and I wanted to see if they had it in stock.  They didn't since it was a bed and bath catalog so the only way I could get it was to order it on line.  But the girl who answered the phone proceeded to tell me before I hung up that I should stop by and check out their sale going on, 75% off a lot of items in the store, like rugs.....  So tonight we decided to go grocery shopping and I had asked Mike if we could run in there are just see if they happened to have anything we may like.  We have been looking forever for the right rug for our living room.  Needed to be soft for the next little one to crawl on or catch a fall off the couch.  So on the way down to Roseville, Cole was being his ever pleasant self and for a moment I almost called off the trip but something told me not to.....

Regular Price for an 8 x10 - $349
We paid - $75
Can you believe that????  When the guy told us the price we stood there for a minute and looked at each other and then went over every other room in our small home debating whether it needed a rug or not.  Fortunately for us, no other room could handle a rug so we stuck with the one.

Cole began flipping out so Mike took him out of the store as we were getting looks from some of the very snotty customers.  While  Mike was entertaining the child I proceeded to wander the store looking for other bargains and came across these:

I am a sucker for picture frames!  When I was on line ordering the mirror earlier today I looked at these and was like there is no way I am paying full price for those.....

The 9 4x6 frames was $55
We paid $13

The 2 other ones are identical 5 4x6 - regular price $49 each
We paid $12 each

To sum it up, we got $538.40 worth of Pottery Barn goodness for $121.37

There are a couple of people I kept thinking about while I was in there....Lindsey, Jen, and my mom.  Jen is in Paris, my mom is in Chili and Lindsey does not live close by.....  I felt so guilty that I was not able to share my discovery with them!  But before you all go running off to Pottery Barn tomorrow you should know that it is a sale only at the Roseville store.  And it wont last much longer.....

Stay tuned for the revel of the mirror in the bathroom.....I will be waiting patiently for UPS to arrive every day......

One of those mornings.....

We woke up this morning to the smell of smoke. Luckily it was not any where near the house but still makes for a stinky morning. Who wants a house that smells like a BBQ. So anyways, Mike and I get ready for work, Cole is still asleep in his bedroom. About 7am I hear Cole kicking the wall which is his sign that he is ready to get up.

Since diaper changing has been such a hassle these days I opted to change his diaper right away since he was still sleepy. He was great! Let me change his diaper, even giggles a bit and did not object to the duck tape. I get out his sweatpants figuring I might as well get him dressed to go to grandmas since I had to leave for work in about 30 minutes. He was still laying down so I put his legs in the pants and then stood him up like I always do to pull up his pants. Well he flipped out and headbutted me in my nose and then sat down. So I stood him back up, attempted a second time to pull up his pants and he tried head butting again. I dodged that one and picked him up when he proceeded to head butt me in the mouth. I could feel my lip fattening up instantly!

So time out number one stared in his crib. I closed his door and let him scream at me for 1 minute. I go back in the room and ask him if he is done. As soon as I get near the crib he takes a swing at me. I said "Cole, it is not ok to hit mommy" He takes another swing.

So I leave the room and close the door again. He continues to scream. 2 minutes later I go back in the room. Same thing happens.

So I leave the room, this time leaving the door open. He does not scream this time. I go eat my breakfast, check my email, and occasionally check on Cole. Each time I walk into the room he would drop to the mattress and hide from me.

Finally about 20 minutes later I go in again and he is quite but still does not want me near him. He finally let me pick him up and it was like nothing had happened.

So we get him a cereal bar and some milk. He runs around chasing a cat. I load up the car. I grab him, lock up the house and get to the car and realize I lock my keys in the house. So back to the house, get the keys, back to the car, and get in the car. Turn the key and "CLICK, CLICK, CLICK" Damn, car wont start. I try again thinking maybe I did something wrong. Nope, wont start. I check the lights, not left on. So I walk Cole over to grandma's, come back to the house, grab all my stuff and Cole's stuff, take it back over. My car is parked in a position where no other car can get in to jump it. So I leave the spare key and AAA card next door and say I will call AAA when I get to work. I call Mike on the way to work and tell him the car won't start and I took his mom' s car to work. He then proceeds to tell me that I left the lights on yesterday and he found it and turned it off and oh yeah, by the way I meant to tell you that last night......

I can't be angry because it was my fault for leaving the headlights on, but I blame Mike for forgetting to tell me. We could have charged the battery last night! But instead we let Cole run around naked for an hour and watched the Kings lose their first game.

So being the sweet husband that he is, he will be coming home on his lunch to put the battery on the charger. That is not my department. :-)

I get to work late, open up and find a note on the bathroom door.

OUT OF ORDER

Are you serious? Out of order? I am pregnant and peeing a gazillion times a day and the toilet doesn't work? You have got to be kidding me. So my choices are to either get a bucket of water ready every time I have to pee so I can "flush" the toilet or walk to the gas station to use their bathroom.

I am choosing the gas station.

Back home - car battery is not charging well - probably need a new battery...

What did you say?

So we were on the couch having cuddle time last night and Cole starts wigging out because he is being restrained by the blanket.  I told him it was bed time and he shook his head - cute little trick he has learned when he doesn't want to do something.  So I asked him if he was hungry and if he wanted a banana.

He replies with an "ooh ya ya ya balana!"

"What did you say Cole?" I asked

"balana"

Ok i guess he wants the banana.  oh excuse me, BALANA.

23 weeks - 16 weeks to go!

One thing I have been forgetting to comment on throughout this pregnancy is the wonderful greeting I get every morning, you know the lovely feeling of your legs cramping so bad that no matter how hard you flex your foot it does stop.  Every morning now for at least the past month and a half.

I am still sleeping mostly on my back.  I find this is the best position that helps to limit the number of bathroom trips.  Although since Cole has been sleeping through the night again I am finding myself also sleeping through the night (ok till 4 am) and then having to pee so bad it hurts and I am not sure if I will make it to the bathroom.  Plus I don't want to wake up Cole since the bathroom is right next to his room.

I have actually gotten better about letting my "cravings" run wild this past week.  Let's hope that makes for not such a giant weight gain next time!

This week the baby is about 11 inches and just over a pound.
A mango!

I think I am smaller this week than the last 2 weeks.
I tell ya, taking a photo in the morning is quite a difference than in the afternoon.

Benefit of the doubt

I'd thought I would let Cole try to go with out a duck tape diaper.
That lasted less than 5 minutes.

22 week update

Had my doctors appointment yesterday.  I thought for sure I has been doing good!  However with a 6 pound gain this month I am going to have to make some changes.....

Hide all the halloween candy at work, not eat cole's left over snacks (the dog can have them), eat more veggies and less french fries (ok I haven't been that bad but I recently found out that Jack n the box's french fries are the absolute worst you can have.  5 days worth of trans fats in one serving!)  Smaller portions.

This is what got me in trouble during Cole's pregnancy.  At this stage last time I weighed the same and then during the next month I gained 8 more pounds!  Not happening this time!  I will be better!  :-)

Ok enough complaining.

Baby update:

Ultrasound showed that the baby is measuring small by 2 days so far.  Not too concerned considering Cole measured 2 weeks small when i was 30 weeks.

The dog diet

For a while now I have been feeling VERY guilty about what I was feeding Onyx.  She gets plenty of zucchini and other veggies for treats but her dog food was full of CRAP.

What Onyx is eating now:
I feel much better.

Coming up!

So  I have been working like crazy to get these photo's done of our "haunted" train ride to the pumpkin patch.  Hopefully by the end of the week!  My computer has been slightly tied up with a 13 day back up of all our photos on the external hard drive....all 40,000+ of them......So it is finally done, Mozy has copies of all my photos in case my hard drive explodes or burns up and now I can shoot and edit with piece of mind.  I posted some of my favorite photos from a shoot I did last weekend on the photo blog along with one of my new all time favorite photos of Cole and the pumpkins.

Enjoy!

Haunted Pumpkin Train to come....

22 weeks - 17 weeks to go!

I have a doctors appointment on Wednesday.  I'll report back on my weight gain and decide from there what I will be craving from now on.  I may have to give up my mint chip ice cream....

Feeling the baby move a lot more these days.  Mostly at night when I lay down.  That's when Cole did most of his moving, which to this day still holds true.....

Still have a tree trunk belly.  Some lady thought I was lying when I told her I was having a baby in 17 weeks.  She asked me more than once if I was serious.

If you can't tell.....and who can, that is a spaghetti squash
the baby is about 11 inches this week and weighs about 1 pound

Time Out

So we have come to the realization that time out is now a game to Cole. Tonight he walked up to me and head butted me. What's new about that right? So I told him he needed to go take a time out. He walked over to him time out spot and sat down for about 10 seconds. He stood up and Mike asked him to come tell mommy he was sorry and to give me a hug. Luckily I was being cautious because Cole came over and looked at me with those baby blues, leaned in and head butted me again and then turned and walked back over and sat down in his time out spot.

Not sure if that second head butt was a screw you or a love tap, either way he punished him self.

A new do

Cole got his MAJOR haircut tonight.  I was prepared to get it done eventually, but when my neighbor popped over and asked if he needed one I said "ok"  We didn't go for the actual faux hawk, however it is cut in a way that I can give him one if I choose, and if he lets me mess with his hair and as of tonight he wasn't having anything to do with me and the gel.

What I love about this hair cut:

1. no more long hairs to go up my nose when we cuddle
2. he looks so handsome
3. easier to wash soap out of it
4. no more tangles
5. his head looks smaller, no more pumpkin head

What I miss about his old hair cut:

1. he isn't my baby anymore, he looks so old!
2. the cute little curls that pop out from under neath his beanies
3. no more bed head

What could be more fun than taking a train ride in a haunted forest only to end up at a Pumpkin Patch! What a great idea and so much fun for the little guys.

I guess Cole was too impatient waiting in line.
He decided that Mike needed some wet willies.

Waiting for the train ride to start.

If you take the haunted tour at night the dead bodies fall out of the rafters.

I'd be shocked to if I saw this freaky thing at 1 1/2 years old!

Fitting since someone is bound to spell our name like that!

Dylan warming up to the pumpkins.
He was not so sure about them at first.

We could not keep Cole off of them!

Gotta love this family photo!

Dylan preferred the guys his size.

Another wonder "fall" holiday memory.
