Christmas 2009

Our Christmas started soon after Siena's MRI. We spent Christmas eve at my parents house with mom and dad, Andrea, Lennis, Aunt Cathy and Alix. We made cookies and just hung out and messed around before dinner was ready. Andrea and Alix fought over a jacket that used to be our grandmothers. It was first offered to me and the pack rat inside me told me to take it but the practical side of me said "where do you have room to hang another jacket???" So I declined and my sister said yes. The comedy that came after that was priceless. You can see Alix in the above photos pouting about the jacket that got away.

After the jacket drama we sat down for dinner, but first toasting to Grandpa Tom whose is greatly missed and his 91st birthday would have been celebrated on the 26th. Then we feasted on dungeness crab, spinach lasagna, salad, cheese fondue, and chibatta bread. For dessert we had chocolate peppermint sandwiches cookies.

Opening presents was a blast. Cole played Santa and handed out all the presents. His first present was the "Super hero in a box" costume. He wore it the rest of the night. It was so funny to see him flying around picking out presents. Siena had a blast destroying all the packages and eating the paper, bows and tags.

We didn't get out of there until midnight and with our 45 minute drive home we were all exhausted. I decided to sleep in Christmas morning. Mike and Cole got up early and Mike set up Cole new train set. He was in pig heaven. At 8:20 the phone rang and I could tell by Mike's voice exactly who was on the phone. Nicole was in labor! I jumped out of bed and got dressed super fast and jumped in the car flew down to Roseville to meet them at Kaiser. You can see the photos from the delivery a few posts down.

I got home around 2pm and it was just in time to head over to Mike's parents house for Christmas Day dinner. My parents came over for dinner, along with Russell, Ron and Belle. It was another yummy meal consisting of a real Honey Baked Ham, rosemary rolls, shrimp salad, carrots, cranberries and oranges (so yummy!), and some other things I can't remember. For dessert we had apple pie and lemon meringue pie.

We opened present again that evening and after we went home, Cole and Siena opened up the rest of their presents from us as well as their stockings. It was a crazy Christmas with the birth and all but a ton of fun and looking forward to it again next year. It was so enjoyable to see Cole getting so excited over every present and helping everyone open their own presents. He had to be a part of it all!

Gifts that Cole received:
Thomas the Train complete set to go with what he already had
a step stool
a super hero costume
a guitar
a john deere farm play barn
tons of lightening McQueen stuffing including a blanket, cars, slippers and a "piston cup" cup
a soccer ball
a tonka Ford truck that makes noise
hot wheels
a ton of Dinosaurs

Gifts that Siena received:
a tinkerbell blanket
blocks
ring stacker
a "tricycle" type ride
a "piggy" bank with big fake coins
a leap frog barn that you match animals head and rears together

more stuff I can't even think of as well for both of them. They made out like bandits.
