22 Months old

Cole is now 22 months old!  I am starting to realize that in 2 months he will be 2 years old!  I feels like he just turned 1 but when I try to think back to that time it seem so far away.  I am guessing that Cole weighs about 28 pounds and is 35 1/2 tall.  He gets a shot on tuesday so I will know for sure then.  He has 15 or 16 teeth.  I am not brave enough to stick my finger in his mouth to check on that count.

Cole's favorite things to eat at the moment are lunch meat (turkey and ham), mandarins, laughing cow cheese, salt and pepper kettle chips, oatmeal mixed with yogurt, and applesauce.  We made chow mein last night and he was addicted to the noodles.  He kept reaching into Mike's bowl and pulling them out.  He is willingly starting to eat more vegetables like green beans and carrots.

Nap times are amazing.  We used to have to cuddle Cole on the couch to calm him down for naps but ever since the big boy bed became a permanent fixture in his life you can tell him it is nap time and he will go into his bed and sleep for 3 hours!  I love it!  No more struggles.  Bed time is not going as well.  He wakes up every night at 2 am screaming.  It is almost impossible to get him back to sleep with out having to put him in our bed.  We have some major work the next 6 weeks....

Cole's attitude has changed quite a bit in the last month.  He is getting harder to deal with as far as obeying and listening.  He has gotten much better and not fighting us for bath time, diaper changing, or getting dressed.  There is always a trade off.  Cole does not like going on car rides longer than about 20 minutes.  He is getting very restless in the car seat.  He is also very difficult to take in public at this tim because he wont sit in a grocery cart, he wont stand in the back of it for more than 5 minutes.  He has sudden bouts of full on tantrums that erupt out of no where and he will not sit in a stroller for any length on time.

When Cole is being his sweet little self he is one of the best little guys out there.  He gives kisses and hugs all the time.  He loves to cuddle up with you (for brief periods of time) and has fun playing with his blocks, trains, and ball popping machine.

Cole is really having fun learning to use his potty.  The other night he peed and went to bed.  He woke up 8 hours later with a dry diaper and then peed on the potty when he woke up!  Very exciting.  I know we have many miles ahead of us as far as potty training goes but he has so much fun doing it and getting the excited reaction from us.  After he pees we cheer and hold our arms up in the air.  He copies us and has a huge smile on his face.

We are still working on Cole treating Onyx nicer.  He still likes to throw things at her (rocks, sticks, toys, etc...) so we are doing our best to let him know that is not ok.

Cole is really starting to be able to repeat words we say and his vocabulary is growing.  He can say "I stink", (I sta) "onyx" (ahna), "mom", "bub" (uncle russell), "what are those" and the one we hear the most these days is "What is that?"  When he gets excited about something he says "oh oh" and shakes his head in a shocked / excited manner.  Cole is also recognizing what animals sounds go with the animals but also if you ask him what does Onyx say, he will reply with a "Woof" or "meow" for Minkie.

One year ago - 10 months old

Cole weighed 20 pounds and 10 oz and was 29 1/2 inches tall.  He said his first word which was "dog" go figure since he was obsessed with Onyx at this point in his life.  Cole also began his MAJOR walking at this time.  He had taken a few steps at a time but no "running" across the room until now.  He ate a lot of different kinds of baby food.  He was still drinking formula since he decided that breast feeding no longer offered a good view and everything else going on around was more important than boobs.  Cole also got his first tooth!
