We hung out on the deck for about 20 minutes, then we started noticing the wind picking up. We quickly put Cole inside and closed down all the umbrellas. The last thing we needed was them blowing away. By the time we got them all down, the rain was starting to fall. We came inside and with in minutes the thunder hit, the lightening got worse, the rain came down in sheets just instantly soaking everything in site. And then came the surprise - hail - giant hail - golf ball size hail - It came down hard. It was so loud that we stayed away from all windows thinking they might break. That lasted a good five minutes or so and then it turned back to rain.
When it was finally time for the news we turned it on and discovered that we were basically in the pink area of the storm. The worst area to be in. There were close to 1000 lightening strikes per hour. It was insane. The lightening continued on through the night and around 4 am we got hit with another round.
I wanted a good storm and boy did we get one. Thank goodness we didn't lose any trees. We have 4 dead pines that should be coming down next week. I was so worried that I was too late in having the sawyer come check out the trees (this afternoon he was scheduled) but nothing fell.
