Siena's namesake

In April of 2003, Mike and I went on our first trip to Italy. We went with our mom's and met up with Russell who was doing a semester abroad in Florence. On one of our day trips we went to Siena. This was one of the most beautiful cities in Italy I have ever been to. We decided right then and there that if we ever had a little girl (we weren't even engaged at this point) we would name her Siena. Almost 6 years later our dream came true.

This is the Piazza del Campo where the annual Il Palio bareback horse race happen.

Here is our view down on the Piazza from the top of the clock tower. I love how every restaurant has their tables perfectly lined up with the restaurant next door.

The view of Siena's gothic Duomo. The entire town is actually done in Gothic architecture. I can't wait to make it back there again. We only spent about half a day and it wasn't enough. On our trip back to Italy 2 years later for our honeymoon we chose to visit some places we had not been to yet.

it looks so beautiful there! and what a cool story to tell your little one about her name...I love names that have a story, family history, etc behind them!
