Our weekend in Philo

Our weekend away started right after Cole finished up his first gymnastics class.  We headed out of town towards Sacramento.  We had planned on doing a giant circle around Northern California so our route to get to Philo was I5 to HWY 20.  Drive around the north side of clearlake and then on to HWY 101 and then HWY 253 into Boonville.  Coming home we would take a different route.

The drive started out great!  We had not been on I5 north in quite some time (thank goodness!) so the drive wasn't as boring as it could have been. This kids both fell asleep shortly after leaving town so we had a nice quite drive and I made Mike stop at various sunflower fields.

We made it safely on to HWY 20 and started our drive into to Mendocino county.

Poor Cole got car sick on HWY 253.  I don't have any photos of the drive because we kept having to pull over so much.  He never puked but he kept saying "I'm sick.  I'm sick in my tummy"  "I want to drive in the shade"  I don't blame him on that one. It was pretty darn hot that day.

Some other classic Cole lines from the trip include:

"Siena is trying to tear me apart" and "Bad words stay in my tummy"

That night at the camp was the rehearsal and a cocktail hour and dinner for any guests that had arrived a day early.  The food was AMAZING.  So good!  There were at least 50 people there if not more so it was like the party before the PARTY!

Our home away from home for the weekend.  We had our choice of 3.  I picked this one because of the door and because it had the least amount of beds and no bunk beds.  We only needed two beds, this one has three but the others have more so we knew others would need the extra beds.  We even offered our extra bed to friends but no one wanted to share a room with the kids.  Haha!!

Two cabins away was the trail leading down to the river.  It was about a 3 minute walk from the cabin.

Cole was very intent on hiking down all by himself.

After our trip down to the river, we walked over to the campground where most of our friends were staying.  Cole really wanted to see his friends.

Cole was taught many new things......  the whoopie cushion will never get old.

Siena loves two things these days.  Her bathing suit and sunblock.

This is just the cutest view ever!!!

Off to the river while I am taking wedding photos.  Cole informed me later that "Daddy was swimming like a dolphin"

Out cold from a fun time at the river.

At the reception Cole was sampling all of the cupcakes.  I don't think he actually finished an entire one.  He also dropped his pants and peed right next to the play structure during the middle of the first dance.  We are proud parents (not really) there is a photo taken by a guest I am waiting to get my hands on.

Siena was quite the social butterfly.

The best idea ever!  Bring an outdoor screen and a movie set up to entertain the kids!  Cole went back and forth about 3 times since he has no attention span for movies.

By 11:30 we were back in the cabin.  The kids had a blast.  Siena passed out during the dancing but Cole was running around dancing with his "friends" and also watching the movie.  Mike and I tried to visit as much as possible but that is kind of hard when kids could care less if you want to visit.  Plus I spent a good deal of the time photographing.  But it was all worth it because the photos are amazing!  Cole was a little bummed that the night was over.

We left on Sunday and decided to go HWY 128 to HWY 80.  On Yahoo, HWY 128 was on their list of top ten HWY's to drive in your life time so we figured since we are there we might as well do it.  It was a long drive but it takes you through the different valleys of the Wine Country.  It was a beautiful drive even though we ran over a King snake.  Yuck!  Now I feel like we are cursed.

It was a great little mini vacation away from home.  We had a blast visiting with friends and the kids loved the cabin and the river.  I think there may be hope for some camping.....

Good times and a few firsts!

We had a great weekend celebrating our good friends, Drew and Alyssa's wedding in Philo, Ca.  Many photos and good Cole stories to come with that one.  Also Cole started gymnastics and I have plenty of photos from that as well (are we surprised???)

Over the past couple of days, Siena has been showing interest in sitting on the potty.  Well yesterday she peed 5 times when asked if she wanted to go potty.  She is super proud of her self and claps each time.  However, if she doesn't pee, she still wants to flush the toilet.  I'm not too keen on wasting the water so I am not letting her and that is causing quite the emotional meltdown for the little princess.  She even needed to have a "time out" in her crib to calm down.  Am I ready for her to be potty trained?  Heck no!  There is no way this kid can sleep all night with out peeing.  We are so spoiled with Cole's amazing track record of never peeing in his bed, not wearing pull ups. etc... that it isn't high on my list of things to clean up in the middle of the night.  She still can't even sleep through the night.  So I am sure we will continue on with letting Siena pee on the potty just as we did Cole at this age but trust me, in about 1 week, she will be bored of it.

So for now, until I get my photos ready to post you can enjoy some of the wedding photos from this past weekend.

Toe-nastics

Cole had his first day of gymnastic's on Friday.  He call's it "toe-nastics" but I think he is trying to say "to gymnastics".  HE LOVED IT!  He was a little over excited so he didn't always wait his turn but he seriously loved it.  He had no fear about any of the activities and never once cried, got scared, or wanted to stop.  In fact he was pretty upset that we had to leave!

He learned to walk on the balance beam.

He rode the giant doghnut to learn forwards and backwards summersaults.

They jumped on the mini trampoline.

He jumped like a cheetah or frog through the hoops.

Played on the bars

And of course jumped on the big trampoline!

Cole can not wait until this Friday to go back!
